11-year-old boy attacked near elementary school

PETALUMA, Calif.

The boy, who is Hispanic, was on Crinella Drive near La Tercera Elementary School at about 8:20 a.m. when the two teens approached him on BMX bicycles, police said.

One struck the boy with an unknown object, bruising the left side of his face, according to police.

Before the suspects rode away, one of the boys cursed at the victim and told him to "go back to your country, you (expletive) Mexican," police said.

The suspects are of unknown race and are approximately 13 to 18 years old with brown hair. Police described the boys as about 5 feet 4 inches tall, with one slightly shorter than the other.

One of the attackers wore a red shirt and shorts, while the shorter suspect wore an orange shirt and skinny blue jeans, police said. Anyone with information or questions about the school alert is asked to contact police at (707) 778-4372.
