Stem cell therapy approved for clinical trials

A therapy developed by Palo Alto-based Stem Cells Inc. and researchers at U.C. Irvine has been approved for the world's first clinical trial using human neural stem cells to treat spinal cord injuries.

The treatment will target spinal injuries that are three to 12 months old.

Researchers will begin enrolling patients early next year.
