Golden Gate moves closer to eliminating toll takers

Thursday, the officials who manage the Golden Gate Bridge could move a big step closer toward eliminating human toll takers. The bridge finance committee is expected to vote on a move to all electronic tolling.

If the plan is ultimately approved, it means FasTrak tags or license plate scanners will be used to collect tolls and the human toll takers will be out of a job.

If the finance committee gives its approval Thursday, the issue moves to the Golden Gate Bridge directors for consideration Friday.
