A report in the Bay Citizen noted the Egyptian government still owns a vacant 14,000 square foot Georgian mansion at Pacific and Baker Streets. It was once the home of the consul general, but the consulate closed last summer.
The Egyptian consulate, now in Los Angeles, tells ABC7 that Egypt has owned the mansion since 1960 and that it has been renovated but is not in use at the moment.
