A San Francisco eighth grader has discovered that the San Francisco Giants did more than just make fans proud during the playoffs and World Series. It seems the team helped reduce crime.

Thousands of people turned out to celebrate the Giants baseball victory and the good will it brought to the city. But 8th grader Ella Chatfield-Stiehler of St. Philip School crunched some computerized crime stats. She reports that auto thefts and car burglaries dropped significantly last October and November compared to the previous year.

Police are impressed with her research and told the San Francisco Chronicle it's a very good theory based on what she saw.
