Woman flips car with kids inside

SANTA ROSA, Calif.

The woman's 4-year-old daughter was flown by helicopter to Children's Hospital Oakland. The mother and her two other children are at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital's Emergency Room and the CHP says the mother was drunk while driving her kids in the back seat when she crashed.

The CHP believes she was speeding down a country road on Tuesday night around 6 o'clock. When she lost control around a dark curve, over corrected, then flipped her Chevy SUV after taking out about 20 feet of guard rail.

The mother who is approximately 25 years old and her 6 and 4-year-old daughters were ejected from the rolling vehicle, and landed in a roadside ditch. Her 2-year-old son was still strapped in his car seat and had to be extracted.

The CHP isn't sure how many of them were wearing their seat belts, but they seem confident the mother was driving drunk.

"There is most definitely a DUI investigation going on at this time. [It is based on] her objective symptoms and the statements she made to us at the time," said CHP Sgt. Bob Barr.

The CHP says the mother will be charged with DUI.

ABC7 spoke with the woman's sister who says everyone is in stable condition. The mother broke a bone in her neck, the 6-year-old lacerated her liver, possibly caused by the seatbelt when she was ejected.

The 4-year-old daughter's exact injuries are unknown and the 2-year-old boy was allowed to go home with his father Tuesday night.

A source close to the investigation says there was gathering of women at the family's home in Larkfield, before the accident. There was some kind of domestic dispute, the father left in his vehicle, and the mother soon left later on with the in tow.
