Contra Costa County Deputy Coroner Steve Casas identified the victim as Charles Howe, a transient from the Vallejo area.
Howe was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek after being struck while riding a bicycle at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on Broadway near Tuolumne Street.
Howe died at 11:58 p.m. Wednesday, Casas said. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Vallejo police said the vehicle fled the scene of the accident.
