Police responded to the area of Pine Street and Clayton Road at 10:24 p.m. after receiving a report that someone had heard possible fireworks or gunshots, Richey said.
When they arrived, the officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators were following up on leads in the case today and were not releasing any additional information about the circumstances of the shooting.
