The No. 3 and 4 lanes were closed at about 8:30 a.m. on southbound I-880 between Fifth Avenue and Embarcadero. The lanes are expected to remain closed until about 12:30 p.m., Carman said.
The CHP is recommending that drivers use Interstate Highway 580 as an alternate route. The CHP, however, has not authorized big-rigs to use I-580, Carman said.
