SJ officials want Santa Clara sheriffs to patrol airport

SAN JOSE, Calif.

Our media partner, The San Jose Mercury News, reports that city officials plan to negotiate with the sheriff on a tentative contract that could be voted on by the City Council at the end of this month. They also want to hire a less expensive private company to replace city firefighters stationed at the airport.

Police and firefighter unions argue that replacing officers and firefighters is a risky experiment.
