Nancy Paquin says her cat Max is recuperating after surgery at a veterinary hospital. She says except for a hole through Max's ear, the 3-year-old housecat is doing really well.
Santa Cruz animal officials said the cat was shot with a 12 inch arrow, possibly from a crossbow. It went through one ear and into the base of his head.
Officials are searching the neighborhood trying to identify a possible suspect. They say the person responsible could face criminal animal abuse charges.
