A diesel spill that forced boaters to stay away from the San Mateo Marina Lagoon Saturday has been cleared, according to the San Mateo Fire Department.

No injuries were reported as a result of the spill, which happened sometime today near 1097 Seal Court.

Boaters were asked to stay away while fire crews cleaned up the diesel, which was cleared by 8:35 p.m.

The fuel did not pose any risk of fire, nor was it a threat to local drinking water, according to the fire department.

People whose skin came in contact with the lagoon were advised to wash with soap and water to remove any contamination.
