Linda Zercoe was walking her dogs around 6 p.m. last Thursday in the Hidden Oaks neighborhood of Blackhawk when she says a pit bull outside a house charged at one of the small dogs and grabbed it in its mouth.
The Contra Costa Times reports a visitor at the house came out and yanked the pit bull away.
County animal services officials say they have a lead on who the pit bull's owner might be.
