It was a 50-year-old pipe that blew up in San Bruno last fall.
Peninsula Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Hillsborough, on Monday said that over a 12-year period, PG&E spent $183 million less than authorized for pipeline upgrades.
Now, they're spending millions to conduct safety tests -- one such test was conducted Monday in Antioch.
PG&E responded by saying it is committed to enhancing the safety of its pipeline system. Speier says the Public Utilities Commission should have been more diligent in keeping tabs on PG&E's activities.
