San Jose's Vietnamese community celebrated the unveiling of a sign on Saturday welcoming the world to "Little Saigon." The sign sits in the median of Story Road near Highway 101. Private donations paid for the sign.

Naming the area "Little Saigon" ignited a controversy four years ago. Council Member Madison Nguyen opposed the idea and suggested calling it the "Saigon Business District." That sparked a passionate recall campaign against Nguyen, led by exiles of the former South Vietnam.

Nguyen kept her seat, but lost the sign battle. She also did not attend Saturday's ceremony.
