Ford unveils new "smart cars"

SAN FRANCISCO

The new cars use Wifi and GPS technology commonly found in smartphones in order to share information about the car's speed and location with the hopes of preventing an accident.

The technology does not control the car, but instead alerts the driver of any potential hazards.

The ideas is to have the new technology standard in new vehicles, and Ford is interested in creating accessories for existing cars in the future.
