The tentative deal allows for the hiring of San Mateo residents on construction projects in that county that are funded by San Francisco. It's a big issue on projects at SFO and on the Hetch Hetchy water system.
San Francisco had been following its own local hire policy but has now agreed to draw workers equally from San Francisco and San Mateo.
The deal still needs approval from supervisors in both counties.
