The doctors were raising money and awareness for childhood cancer research. They volunteered to have their heads shaved in solidarity with young cancer patients who often lose their hair during chemotherapy.
The money will go to the Saint Baldrick's Foundation -- a non-profit organization committed to cancer research. Since 2007, the foundation has given nearly $770,000 to UCSF's Clinical Cancer Program.
