Huge winter snowpack closes some campgrounds

Warm weather now coupled with a huge winter snowpack means many communities in California are bracing for possible flooding. A closed sign greets visitors to one campground in Fresno County which is threatened by the rushing waters of nearby Dinkey Creek. But other campgrounds remain open and some folks might even see snow that's remained on the ground, almost mid-way through June.

"We had friends that were in the tent area and they closed theirs down, so we called to make sure [Yosemite] was still open," said Bakersfield resident Pierre Taylor.

In Yosemite, many people will gaze at raging waterfalls this weekend, but further downstream, state water officials worry about the Merced River overflow its banks.
