Half Moon Bay's entire police force officially joined the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Tuesday.

Fourteen former employees of Half Moon Bay's police force took the oath to join the sheriff's office during a ceremony in Redwood City.

Half Moon Bay decided recently to contract out its police services in order to save money.

Sheriff Greg Munks says that residents should expect the merger to be "seamless." His deputies already patrolled much of San Mateo County's coast before they took charge in Half Moon Bay on Sunday.
