The blaze was reported around 8:10 a.m. in a detached garage at 69 San Pablo Ave., off of North San Pedro Road in unincorporated Marin County, San Rafael fire Battalion Chief Jeff Rowan said.
Firefighters attacked the fire before it could spread to the adjacent single-family home. The blaze was controlled by 8:30 a.m., according to Rowan.
A car in the burned garage was damaged, as was a fence nearby, Rowan said.
No one was injured in the fire.
