As they have done in years past, volunteers will interview homeless people and create a registry. It is part of the "Housing 1,000" campaign. The three-day project is a joint effort by Santa Clara County, the city of San Jose, and several homeless advocate groups.
The campaign's goal is to get 1,000 chronically-homeless people in Silicon Valley into permanent homes by 2013. Campaign organizers say there are currently about 7,000 homeless people in Santa Clara County.
