Bacteria outbreak sickens some at hospital

A bacterial outbreak at California Pacific Medical Center led to the shutdown of two floors of the San Francisco hospital.

Ten patients were infected with the germ known as C. diff and became violently ill; nine of those patients have since been released from the hospital after the incident in June, but one is still in the hospital.

Healthy people usually do not get sick from C. diff but antibiotics make people more vulnerable to the bacteria.
