Clorox is stepping up to help the Oakland police department with its continuing communications problems.

The Oakland based cleaning products maker is donating $50,000 to buy new laptop computers for the city's police cars. The donation will pay for 11 Panasonic Toughbook laptops. Oakland police have only six working laptops in the fleet with 14 more being installed. The computers will help officers who have suffered repeatedly with embarrassing and dangerous failures of their radio systems.
