ABC7, SFO says goodbye to spokesman Ron Wilson

SAN CARLOS, Calif.

Before joining our team, Wilson served as chief spokesman for San Francisco International Airport.

ABC7's David Louie shared stories about Wilson at the funeral mass in San Carlos.

Wilson's old boss, former airport director Lou Turpen, explained how he ended up becoming the face and the voice of SFO.

"Ron knew the airport better than anyone at SFO and in addition to that, he had a manner about him. He had the ability to explain things so distinctly and so clearly that I thought he'd be a natural in communicating with the people around San Francisco with the press and it turned out that we were right. He was just brilliant," said Turpen.

Wilson was with SFO for 43 years and many of us in the news business always appreciated the extra efforts he took to explain what was happening at the airport so that viewers could have the most reliable and accurate information.

Wilson was 72 and we will miss him.
