Standoff with parolee ends in Mission District

SAN FRANCISCO

The parolee surrendered around 4 p.m. Saturday. Police say he ran into a home on Folsom Street after assaulting his sister four hours earlier.

The sister is expected to be okay.

The SWAT team moved in to capture the parolee, but he snuck into an adjoining home, nearly evading cops.

"We still have people watching the place, and sure enough, the guy had...went into the next building, went out a window," said San Francisco Police Captain Dominic Celaya.

Police would not say why the parolee was wanted, but they emphasized that he was armed with a gun.
