According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the $10 million radio system was originally touted as a solution for several problems the department had with their previous radio system, however, several officers say the new radios are showing some of the same problems -- including sound quality, and dead zones where the radios don't work at all.
The head of the police union says the system is unreliable. But a department spokesman says the radios have been working fine for weeks, after some early problems.
