Oakland police union: new radio system not working

Oakland officers are already complaining about their new police radios and they've only been in use for two months.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the $10 million radio system was originally touted as a solution for several problems the department had with their previous radio system, however, several officers say the new radios are showing some of the same problems -- including sound quality, and dead zones where the radios don't work at all.

The head of the police union says the system is unreliable. But a department spokesman says the radios have been working fine for weeks, after some early problems.
