Sites like Google Plus give users more freedom to customize their privacy settings and some folks are posting less on Facebook.
"If people stop sharing on Facebook, the magic is over. It really has happened a lot for many people that they have stopped sharing as much as they did, and instead are just lurking or they are just reading other people's Facebook posts and that doesn't keep the community flowing," said Katie Barrette from the Wall Street Journal.
Facebook says it plans to unveil more changes in the coming weeks that will give users more freedom to tailor their settings.
