Planned Parenthood will not be opening a new clinic on El Camino Real in Redwood City after all.

The announcement came one week before the City Council there was set to decide whether to grant Planned Parenthood an operating permit.

The women's health organization pulled its application Monday, claiming it simply couldn't come up with the required number of parking spaces. Enterprise Rent-a-Car offered to provide the spaces, but backed down after anti-abortion groups threatened to picket any business that helped Planned Parenthood.

Instead, Planned Parenthood opened a new clinic Monday in San Mateo.
