Officer-involved shooting investigated in San Jose

SAN JOSE

A little after midnight, officers of the Santa Clara County Auto Theft Task Force were attempting to stop a stolen silver Ford Mustang when the shooting occurred. The task force consisted of San Jose, Mountain View and CHP officers working together undercover. A San Jose police officer and a Mountain View officer discharged their guns, it is not known which one of the officers, or if both officers hit the suspect.

A 31-year-old male suspect was struck by the gunfire and was taken to a local hospital, where he was admitted for non-life-threatening injuries. A second male suspect, 40-years-old, was arrested at the scene and was questioned at the San Jose Police Department. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is in its preliminary stages and no further details are available at this time.
