OnStar plans to track former customers

Navigation service OnStar is letting its customers know that it will continue to track the speed and location of their vehicles, even after they cancel their service.

This week, OnStar began sending customers its new privacy policy, notifying them about the continued tracking.

OnStar says it will remove personal information from the data before selling it.

Privacy advocates don't like it, but OnStar says customers can op-out of continued tracking. OnStar says maintaining the connection makes it easier to re-enroll in the service.
