Recession continues to pinch middle class most

The recession continues to pinch Americans, but the middle class is getting stung the most.

Census figures show the median household income in the U.S. fell by 1.4 percent between 2007 and 2010. But residents of Washington D.C. and 21 states actually took home more money.

Economists credit that to the growth of the federal government and the expansion of some industries, such as energy.
