Stores selling expired medicines, baby food, and formula will soon face huge fines.

Federal regulations require expiration dates on over-the-counter medication, baby food and infant formula, but there is no federal law prohibiting the sale of expired items. Now there will be a state law.

In past, 7 On Your Side has reported experts have said that products remain good past the expiration date, but advocates say if manufacturers are no longer willing to stand behind the product, the items should be removed from the shelves.

Advocates also say most people already believe such a law already exists.
