The 8,000-square-foot ice rink located in Civic Park is opening for its seventh year at noon today after a brief delay, and will welcome the public through Jan. 16.
Tonight, the rink is offering two hours of free skating from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. as a thank you to the public for waiting as the rink underwent a recent revamp.
The rink now has expanded seating areas, tents, new lighting and food vendors, according to the Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau.
Regular weekday ticket prices until 5 p.m. are $11, and weekend tickets from Friday at 5 p.m. through Sunday night are $15.
For $15, visitors can attend the Children's Winter Festival at the rink on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring face painters, ice sculptures and singers, among other attractions.
