The city of Millbrae has now approved a plan to dissolve its police department and outsource patrols to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.

The city council passed the cost cutting measure earlier this week in hopes of saving more than $1 million a year.

The San Mateo Sheriff's office is expected to offer full time jobs to all 21 of Millbrae's full-time officers And eight civilian police employees. The sheriff's office has already taken over police operations for San Carlos and Half Moon Bay in the past year.
