The Yahoo! billboard in San Francisco by Highway 101 on the way to the Bay Bridge is about to come down.

The neon billboard went up in 1999, five years after the company was founded by Stanford graduate students Jerry Yang and David Filo. At the time, Yahoo! was a leading tech company helping to usher in the dot-com boom. Some people consider it a Bay Area icon.

The space will now be available beginning Dec. 1 at $65,000 per month or $80,000 if a new sign uses neon.
