Starting Jan. 1, a new law takes effect in California that will ban the sale of beer that has caffeine added as a separate ingredient.
The caffeinated beer has been a popular drink among college students.
The state passed the ban last summer in response to several incidents in which drinkers were hospitalized after consuming the caffeine-laced beer.
