The study out of the United Kingdom found a cold can slow a driver's reaction times and limit their judgment and ability to concentrate.
The researchers even went as far as saying operating a car with a cold is the equivalent of driving after consuming four double whiskies.
Driving quality dropped to 60 percent in those with a cold, compared to 95 percent if the driver was healthy.
The research was a joint project between a British car parts retailer and an insurance company.
