15-year-old Sierra LaMar left her Morgan Hill home last Friday morning and didn't show up for school. There are 55 registered sex offenders in the Morgan Hill zip code alone under Megan's Law. The sexual assault unit is talking to those people as well as others in South San Jose to make sure that no one on that list is a possible suspect in Sierra's disappearance.
With each passing hour, Sierra's family is getting more desperate for answers. "I'm just worried. I'm worried for her. She has asthma, and she doesn't have her inhalers, and I just want her to be safe," her Mother Marlene LaMar said. The petite 15-year-old has been missing since Friday morning and no one, not even her close sister Danielle has heard from her. ""I just have a hard time believing that she wouldn't tell me anything if she was planning something," Danielle told ABC7.
Sierra left her house at 7:15 Friday morning and usually catches the school bus ten minutes later at an intersection two blocks away. Marlene says she's confirmed that her daughter never got on the bus. Sheriff's deputies say Sierra's cell phone was found Saturday night at an intersection in the opposite direction, less than a mile away. "We're doing some forensics on the cell phone, trying to get any information that we can off of that cell phone as well as her laptop. We do have her laptop that we're doing some forensics on as well," Sgt. Jose Cardoza explained Monday.
The family says Sierra is active on Facebook and Twitter and there hasn't been any activity from her since her disappearance. Investigators with the sheriff's office spent the day at Ann Sobrato High School talking with Sierra's teachers and classmates. "We have encouraged all of our students, if they have any information, even if they don't think it might be very important, to come up and let us know," Principal Deborah Padilla said.
People are also busy putting up more flyers with Sierra's picture on it. The LaMars moved to Morgan Hill in October and before that, lived in Fremont where Sierra was a cheerleader at Washington High School. The family says Sierra does visit Fremont to see her dad and friends, but not without communicating, which is why they are so worried.
"I just can't imagine Sierra would be gone this long unless it was against her will," Danielle said.
"I love you so much Sierra. Your family and your friends are really worried about you," Marlene pleaded through her tears.

11 p.m. Update:
Late Monday night, ABC7 learned that Sierra's father, Steve LaMar, is a registered sex offender who lives in Fremont. He is listed under Megan's Law and was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, stemming from a case a number of years ago. We don't know if this detail has anything to do with this missing person case. LaMar claims he is innocent in the disappearance of his daughter.
