SJ man to receive honors for saving driver in crash

SAN JOSE

Firefighters say Austin Riley helped rescue the SUV driver that slammed into the house on Elrose Ave. late Tuesday night. They say Riley noticed the woman was unconscious, broke the vehicle's window with a rock, called for help, and then pulled her out of the smoky SUV with help from another neighbor.

The fire captain wants to honor Riley at the fire station and has also asked the city council to recognize his actions. In the meantime, the driver has been booked on a drunk driving charge.
