Firefighters in Oakland are trying to determine what led to a spectacular early morning car fire.

The fire started around 4 a.m. on the 800 block of 36th Street. The blaze also spread to a nearby utility pole. Investigators say they're unsure how the fire started but found nobody at the scene when they arrived. The battle also provided quite a scare when the airbag exploded while the firefighters were battling to put the fire out. The crews ultimately knocked the flames down. Nobody was injured.
