A Contra Costa County park official says he can't keep up with the ever increasing graffiti defacing Rock City.

The outcropping of sandstone boulders on a ridge between Danville and Walnut Creek is popular with hikers and climbers, but it's also popular with vandals.

Rock City Park's superintendent says the earliest dated examples go back to 1974 and he says he doesn't have the funds or personnel to undo the damage.

The limestone's so soft; it can even be stained by chalk.
