Carpool lane change could come to SF-Sacramento commute

SAN FRANCISCO

The assembly passed a bill that would suspend carpool lanes in the reverse commute direction on interstate 80 from the bay bridge to the Carquinez Bridge.

That means HOV lanes along that stretch of I-80 eastbound would be suspend in the morning and the westbound lanes in the evening.

Assm. Fiona Ma, D-San Francisco, introduced the bill and says the carpool lanes are underused in those directions and suspending them could ease traffic.
