2 injured after police chase in SF; suspect arrested

SAN FRANCISCO

It started with a short police pursuit that ended after the suspect slammed into a vehicle and burst into flames. Police say undercover officers were trailing a suspect driving a silver SUV. They called a patrol car to pull him over, but he took off and sped down Brannan Street and then t-boned a convertible at Brannan and Sixth street. Police say the two occupants of the convertible were taken to the hospital in serious condition.

A police officer at the scene said an off duty San Francisco Sheriff's lieutenant happened to be in the area, so when the suspect jumped out and started running, the Sheriff's lieutenant chased him down and arrested the suspect a block away.

Our ABC7 News crew noticed a bullet hole in the suspect's vehicle, but that is one of the details that is case-sensitive and police are not commenting on it.

It is not yet known what that suspect was wanted for.
