Two major San Francisco teachers' unions have signed off on a tentative contract agreement, three weeks before the start of the school year.

The agreement brings the school year back up to 179.5 days. It's been 176 days for the past two years, and if ratified, all employees would take 1.5 furlough days.

The unions also agreed to add furlough days if voters don't pass either of the proposed state tax initiatives in November, which would help fund schools.
