Hiker rescued after being stranded on cliff

DOG TOOTH PEAK, Fresno County

Larry Bishop became stranded on Dog Tooth Peak, it's a tough to climb mountain just east of Fresno. Bishop is an experienced hiker, but he took a wrong turn and got stuck for two days. On the second day his body started to slide down the cliff and he thought he was going to die. He even started writing a goodbye note to his family.

"I just basically hoped I had the stamina and determination to bear the pain and hang on," Bishop said.

52 hours after the ordeal started, a team of rescuers from the local sheriff's department rappelled down the cliff and rescued him. A helicopter lifted Bishop to safety.
