Teen charged as adult in toddler shooting death

The 16-year old boy charged as an adult in the shooting death of a toddler is due back in court for a hearing this afternoon, when he is expected to enter a plea.

Frederick Charles Coleman is charged with one count of murder and six counts of attempted murder in a gang-related gun battle in the parking lot of an Oakland liquor last November. A bullet hit 23-month old Hiram Lawrence, Jr. while he was being held by his father, who tried to shield the boy near a taco truck. The hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m..
