Survey: Singapore to have richest people in 2050

A new survey predicts the balance of global wealth will be centered in Asia by the middle of this century, with people in Singapore expected to be the richest in the world.

The Knight Frank and Citi Private Wealth Report projects an annual per capita income of $138,000 for Singapore residents by 2050.

Hong Kong and Taiwan are next on the list. The report says Americans will be fifth on the list, with a six-figure per capita income of $101,000 per year.

The report predicts the 10 most affluent countries in terms of GDP per capita in 2050 will be:

3. Taiwan
4. South Korea
5. United States
6. Saudi Arabia
7. Canada
8. United Kingdom
9. Switzerland
10. Austria
