The bicyclist was traveling on Pythian Road in east Santa Rosa around 5:15 p.m. when the driver of a vehicle began yelling at him, police Sgt. Eric Goldschlag said.
The driver, an elderly white man with gray hair, tried to hit the bicyclist who then fled onto the Oakmont Golf Course to escape the driver, Goldschlag said.
The driver followed and struck the bicyclist on the golf course, Goldschlag said. The unidentified bicyclist suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital, he said.
The vehicle was described as a gold or beige sedan similar to a Toyota Corolla and might have a broken passenger-side mirror, Goldschlag said.
