Hundreds of people turned out for the ABC7 Job Journal HIREvent in San Francisco Wednesday. 300 openings were advertised ranging from account executive to software engineer.
Some of those unemployed were glad for the chance to do face-to-face networking, especially after dealing with online job applications. "It seems like there's a lot of discrimination when it comes to if you're overqualified, your age, or whatever," Ariel Lumba said.
The job fair doesn't just give people a chance to meet recruiters. Experts are also on hand to critique resumes and offer tips to make them more attractive.
The next ABC7 Job Journal HIREvent will be on Wednesday, October 10 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Emeryville.
